Oh The Places Well Go...
Well, well, well.
Guess who has a new Codex. And my, oh my, how things have changed.
Kroot and Ethereals are officially viable units in the army. Supporting Fire is an amazing army-specific special rule that makes those nast marine assaults just a wee bit more bearable. Rail Rifles are finally as nasty as they should be, and the new fliers... yum.
My brain is SPINNING with ideas for new army lists and nasty tactics... stay tuned. As I flesh out some strategies in my head, I'll start posting them here, along with the continued progress on my army. I'm going to have to get some of those new Broadsides... and a Riptide. Or two... C'mon! A Jetpack Monsterous Creature? I'm sorry, but YES PLEASE! +2 armor and 5 wounds of beat you up bad!
Tau are finally really formidable again! I'm excited, guys! Stay tuned for more info!
Prosper like Tau!

New Codex...
So I haven't seen the new codex, seeing as how I'm poor. But boy howdy... I've been reading back through the 6th ed. 40k rules and things are going to get interesting. Stop, for a moment, if you will, and consider the Crisis Suit.
In 5th ed., you could move 6" in movement, then shoot in the shooty phase, then move 6" back into cover (or wherever else you wanted) during the assault phase because you're a Jet Pack model. Pretty nifty all by itself. But 6th ed. changed that just a scootch. For the better, in my opinion.
You can now move 2D6 in the assault phase. Now, 2D6 averages out to a roll of 7, so on average, you'll be rolling with more movement than before already. BUT... on a good day, you'll have 12" of movement. Can you imagine the insane movement possible with a secondary move like that? Talk about the potential to dominate the enemy! Now, conversely, on a bad day, you'll only have 2" to move. On those days, it's a good thing your Crisis suits can take a beating :D
I've been holding off on really delving into the new rules until I can get the new Codex in hand, since I don't know what else GW will have meddled with, but I can tell you this: There will be LOTS of tactics posts up here one I get the Codex :D
Stay tuned, followers of the greater good! There's plenty more where that came from!

The Fire Breather Returns
So, it's only been six months since I've posted anything. I ARE GOOD AT BLOGGING!
So work was nuts for a while, and time was scarse. I'm finally back in the saddle, though, and with the new Codex slated for April at this point... I couldn't be happier :D
There's more rumors than you could shake a stick at right now for Tau, so I'll avoid speculating on any of that until I have ye olde new Codex in my grubby little hands. Instead, I'm gonna give you an update on my army's refurbishing!
The Fire Warriors that I started in a Mean Green soak at my last post finally came out of the soak a week or so ago (that's right, almost 6 months of soaking) and the damn white base coat is still fighting for a foothold. It helped some, but some of the models are still going to have to be replaced. I based coated them all last night, so we'll see how it looks with final paints on. Maybe I'll get lucky!
Right now, I'm working on finalizing my 750 army. Here's where I stand:
O'suam - Done
Crisis Suits x2 - Done
Fire Warrior Team 1 (12 models) - Done
Fire Warrior Team 2 (12 models) - Primer Coat Finished
Fire Warrior Team 3 (12 models) - Pending
Fire Warrior Team 4 (12 models) - Pending
My goal is to have my 750 pt army fighting fit by the end of April. After that, it's almost all tanks and other larger models to level up to 1000 pts and beyond.
I'll post up pics of my completed models tonight. I'm pretty excited with the progress I'm making lately. Feels good to be seeing them in my colors.
Stay tuned, kiddos, and until next time...
Prosper as Tau shall.
